Playing Chen made me think of the hot bean paste I make at home. Depending on where you live buying a good hot bean paste that can be used as a condiment can be difficult so I use a recipe from of of my cookbooks, "Dok Suni".
1 Tbs Soybean Paste 1 tsp Crushed Garlic 2 tsp Red Pepper Sauce 1 tsp Salad Oil 2 Tbs Water
Combine, cook over low heat for 15-20 minutes.
That's it. It's that simple. It's a Korean recipe so if you can't get Korean soybean paste you can substitute with red miso. Sometimes I'll cut down the water and not bother to cook it. Just serve it as is and smother some tofu or potstickers etc in it. It's not as hot that way and it makes a lovely condiment.
Plug: If this sounds good to you buy the book. It's "Dok Suni" by Jenny Kwak and it is the best Korean cookbook I have seen yet.

I found a great frozen pot sticker brand. America's Choice pot stickers. They are delicious! I'm going to buy them and make this for them. I like it hot! Thanks, Arrianna.
