Hopefully they will announce when they will be doing the specials soon... Is the show still on for the 22nd? On the shows official webpage it says "調整中" which just means they are adjusting the schedule ? They always put advance notice only few days before the next air date. Looks like they always put the comment "’²®’†"(under adjustment) all the time when they donft have an approval from the top even though they already finish recording of the next air. At the last scene of the episode #12 (3/1), you can see the back of the next challenger. I read a speculation among Japanese fans that it might be a big shot in French cuisine?? I think we will have one more "regular" episode in March. Let's look forward to the next episode! (In Japan, everything would change to something new in April; school grade, fiscal year, reoganization of company, etc...) I think, ironically the new show has been getting better and better since February... it's too good to cancel. As Tets said, I think, too, it's Fuji's decision maker's fault. Iron Chefs did their best for this show, for all young chefs, for IC fans, in between their super busy schedule. Challengers did good job. Staffs did their best. However, as far as I read the above official announcement, looks like Fuji's top people say as if it's audience's fault. That's why I said before in this thread that Fuji TV hasn't caught the needs of audience in the latest years. I totally agree with HC's question. So many fans have been claiming that they should just move the time slot for more viewers. Why didn't they do that? Sounds foolish. Looks like Fuji's top never changes their style. Anyway I didn't imagine that it would trace the same destiny as IC USA version. They are home of all of Iron Chefs though... Very sad.

Fuji TV's official announcement was made. headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20130301-00000305-oric-entThe source is ORICON. They are credible. They are a provider of entertainment information and contents; especially they are famous for ORICON charts. (like a Billboard charts in the US) They said as follows (Sorry for my bad English but I did my best for the translation. Hope you understand): It was revealed in a briefing session of program reorganization by Fuji TV on 3/1 that "Iron Chef" (Fri. 7:57pm), the revival of "Ryori no Tetsujin", a program representing Fuji TV, will be terminated in March. They started to air the new show in last October but the show's title, the time slot, iron chefs didn't fit in the audience and they decided the termination of regular broadcast. Mr. Tatematsu, General Manager of Editing, explained, "Iron Chef is a high quality show and we can say it is FujiTV's treasure. Currently we are struggling for the ratings. We think we have a time slot problem, too, so we would like to consider about a way to make it as special program and forward it into the next stage." As a trend of the latest audience, Mr. Arai, Chief of Editing & Producing bureau talked about the difficulty of fixing of new show, "Not only they refuse something new but also they hate mannerism". From April, their another variety show "Jinsei no Seikai TV ~ Korega Teppan! ~" will be scheduled to be promoted from occasional program to regular broadcast (to be aired in there). It is an information variety show with the theme of searching "which is the correct way?" in a lot of "choice" scene in our life, such as crisis situation in survival scene or real problem in our daily life. The casts are under adjustment.

Yes, it's too good to cancel. At the last of this episode, they said "the next is the last match" and "into the new stage" What is the new stage? Japanese fans are in a mess now.

The battle was sooooo great!
This episode was just like the original Ryori no Tetsujin (IMO)...No...the dishes were dreamily fantastic more than original show's dessert battle level. Must see episode.
A guest judge, Kabuki actor Mr. Ebizo Ichikawa said he understood for the first time the feeling of a woman escoated by someone and given a dream dessert! LOL

Perhaps so, Miwa-san. But if this is true, then this is great news! I wonder if "continued as a special" means we won't get weekly episodes like we're getting now, but still...fewer episodes are better than no episodes! I think so, Okomomiyagi. Mr. Yamashita, a chef I mentioned in my previous post, he posted another comment in IC facebook page yesterday: "Regular air would be cancelled in March and a special episode would be aired in May", but this comment has gone today. I'm sure I saw it. Probably he deleted it. Today I got a monthly TV program guide magazine for March. FujiTV's program schedule on Friday 7-9 pm is: 3/1 19:57-20:54 -- Iron Chef 3/8 19:00-20:54 -- not fixed yet (under adjustment) 3/15 19:00-20:54 -- World Figuure Skating tournament 2013 3/22 19:57-20:54 -- Iron Chef 3/29 19:00-20:54 -- another variety show It's a monthly forecast, so there may be probability of change.

Ah...I got it now. She showed up twice. Clean mind! Thanks Tuthead! Naomi Kawashima never looks as old as she actually is... a monster... (The Addams Family??) I found the newest preview video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ung2S3dj7AQAfter this episode (3/1), it looks like we would have no episode for a while again. <*the episode# in the thread title was wrong. not 11 but 12. sorry.>

Dessert battle is coming. Suga vs. Yoroizuka (a top patissier in Japan) www.fujitv.co.jp/ironchef/index.html(preview video is available by clicking at the the upper right of the box of "Next on Air") IC maniac memo: Yoroizuka-san's wife is an actress Naomi Kawashima. I, for sure, remember that she showed up as a guest judge in an episode in the original series but I can't find which episode it was... :

A good game. Suga-san made Souffle with the theme ingredient 'scallop'! How does he come up with that? I couldn't imagine any desserts from that ingredient! The souffle made by mince of scallop, soaking water of dried scallop adductor, almond powder and orange liqueur!! I think definitely orange liqueue well killed the smell of scallop mince... I wonder if his maser, Robuchon could come up with that? ;D And It was such a surprise when Suga used Irie's Ramen noodle! (Irie was surprised, "Nani!?(What!?)" funny... Also nominee Irie-san was an amazing Ramen chef! He is never be just a normal ramen chef. Who can imagine a "ramen chef" could cook such a beautiful course dishes? I think that probably his one spoon appetizer goes well with Sake! hehe. Picture of their dishes: www.fujitv.co.jp/ironchef/records/130222.html* Irie(“ü])-san posted his comemnt in IC FB page (in the section of the picture of their dishes) on Sat.: “ü] ‰l‹N ‘òŽR‚̺‰‡‚ ‚肪‚Æ‚¤‚²‚´‚¢‚Ü‚µ‚½B{‰êƒVƒFƒt‚Æ‘Î킳‚¹‚Ä’¸‚«‚Æ‚Ä‚àŒõ‰h‚ÉŽv‚¢‚Ü‚·B ‚±‚ê‚©‚ç‚à‘½‚‚Ìl‚Ɉ¤‚³‚ê‚郉[ƒƒ“‰®‚É‚È‚ê‚é—lA¸i‚µ‚Ä‚Ü‚¢‚è‚Ü‚·‚Ì‚ÅA‰ž‰‡‚æ‚낵‚‚¨Šè‚¢‚µ‚Ü‚·B --> Thank you so much for your great support. It was my pleasure to match with Chef Suga. I'll do my best so that I will be able to make more delicious ramen (cuisine?) that everyone would love. I thank you all for your support to be continued. (sorry if my English is difficult to be understand)

They didn't mention about preliminary battle. Probably they didn't have it.
About why they introduced two other chefs, I think that they just wanted to show their short story (proceeding) that they've reached the three candidates (masters of Cha-han=fried rice): Mr. Lee, Mr. Harimoto & Mr. Tei and they chose Mr. Tei for the KS battle.
Kaga said, he checked all over Japan for the master of Cha-han cooking and picked up three chefs. I imagine that the gourmet academy staff visited each of their restaurants and had interviews and checked their Cha-han. And finaly they thought Mr. Tei's one was the most remarkable. Kaga said, Tei's "Hisui (jade) Cha-han" was the most impressive. (why "jade"? you can see green beans"eda-mame" in his Cha-han (^^) )

Wow, did they do such a thing? Wow... If they have energy and money to do such a thing, they should release DVDs. That's one of the reasons why I can't call Japanese fans, "Hey does anyone have Iron Chef videos to share with us?" in IC facebook page. And the trading fraud..., No...., awful... scammed? Not only it's terrible trampling fan's expectation but also she is one of a kind of worst traders. Also, maybe Fuji and FN are already under the pre-negotiation about the new shows. If we bring our videos to there....

nice comment, Man Alive.
I really understand what Tets said. It may be rather lucky for us to have been able to enjoy Tut's site so far.
I know some videos related with old ICJ epi. that have been put on youtube for years have already deleted by Fuji's offer.
But, on the other hand, I recently find some new-uploaded videos of original show on youtube more often than before, especially these few months. Maybe people remembered "Oh, I have old video of IC" once the new show started. I will let you know, as soon as I find any rare videos before they delete.
