Nice blog, Okonomiyagi. So..., I found two people watching original Ryori no Tetsujin on FujiTV ONE in some sites, but no reply to my calling. They seem on guard. Sorry.

a bit updated info.
Two hours ago, 1 comment by Mr. Yamashita(ŽR‰º), an owner chef of a certain French restaurant in Tokyo was posted in IC facebook. He says; ŽR‰º ‹ã ‘Å‚¿Ø‚è‚É‚Í‚È‚è‚Ü‚¹‚ñ‚æI ƒXƒyƒVƒƒƒ‹‚Å‘±‚¯‚Ä‚¢‚Á‚Ä ’x‚¢ŽžŠÔ‘Ñ‚É‚È‚é‚»‚¤‚Å‚·B ‚¾‚Á‚ÄA‰´‚ªo‚é‚Ü‚Å‚â‚ß‚È‚¢‚Å‚µ‚åI ‚È‚ñ‚Ä‚Ë(^O^)v
--> ICJ won't be cancelled! I heard that it would be continued as a special and move to late time slot. Also, they can't cencel until I will challenge, don't you think?! Just kidding?(^o^)v
I don't know what his source is, but he is a person in culinary field. Hopefully his source is credible. You can find his comment in the section of the close-up picture of today's nominee, grasping a colander in his right hand, in IC facebook. Maybe the tabloid paper heard that regular air would be cancelled and they stretched the story?
*Recently I find some comments by chefs in this page. When looking in their FB, I find their friends, famous chefs including Mr. Kimio Nonaga, a Japanese cuisine chef who won Chen in 2002 Japan cup. I can easily imagine many chefs checking this page. But they couldn't post so far, I guess? (because they have so-so status?) But looks like they just started posting. Influenced by chef Yamada's post the other day??

I totally agree with you, Tetsu! A great game. I think that you like the next theme ingredient, too. (sorry I often call you Tetsu, it's a Japanese man's popular nickname so...tell me if you don't want me to call that way)

I found Hiromi Yamada did post in IC facebook 21 hr. ago! Everyone was surprised! "What??!!" Why could he come to there and say, "Hi"?? His message was honest: It's natural that everyone has variety of opinion! I wanted to show my cooking process more in the show (*the points I wanted to show you were all cut by edit.) and I would like to show it as much as possible next time. And he also mentioned the possibility of rematch with Wakiya again. By this only one post, looks like everyone calmed down from their overheated posting battle. I think that's Yamda-san's charactor. As Ristrante Hiro's manager, Mr. Yamaguchi said, maybe he doesn't think anything about people's stress just like a big child (in this case, about how much confusing this FB page have been in these 3 days due to his appearance in the battle, or how much confusing this show's status has been, and how much the fans were urguing with each other about this epi.). But his only one simple and pure word let people accept him. Ummm..., special charactor. Many fans (about 50) accepted his one simple and honest comment instantly (as he told that he wants to contribute more by showing us cooking and challenge again). Maybe he has something pure about cooking. I really hope he will never repeat mistakes in his private life any more. A very special person. I think that maybe sometimes the line between being a genius and being outrageous is very fine.

I just want to say, Sanji was great at IC facebook page. Corresponding to each spoiler with his data and logic. I can't do in that way. Encouraging. I was feeling like shouting, Go! Sanji! Go!! The spoilers were terrible and too many. Also rude. No reply to someone's comment. Just saying what they want to say. (lnc. inappropriate words) Unbelievable. It's Iron Chef's site. Wondering if some were drunkers? Also I want to say, during Fri. night and Sat., people are so hot but now cooling down and his comments started to be clicked "good" little by little, by some English understandable people with good sense. (I think people couldn't try to understand English as soon as they saw it) Thanks, Sanji! Well, summarized English and Japanese official sites we found so far : Japanese: www.fujitv.co.jp/ironchef/index.htmlwww.facebook.com/fujitv.ironchefimatsubu.jp/campaign/ironchefEnglish: www.facebook.com/IronChefJapantwitter.com/IronChefJapan12/following

HC, my post that I introduced your comment got 13 clicks "good"(like?) in these three days.
Sanji, I'm glad you joined the ICJ facebook page. Welcome aboard. Now we're connected!
And...phew...the ICJ facebook is bursting into flames by huge number of comment tonight...about today's battle... o/==z
So many negative people are complaining, "it's a fraud""don't air anymore", and also so many positive people are opposing, "it was wonderful""impressive". (mostly about the judge and the show's structure, not about chef's (or dish's) fabulousness) I have never seen this huge number of comment at one night. I have been there until just before, but gave up! They all must be longtime fans of IC though! I'm disappointed with narrow-minded Japanese fans...ashamed...(oh, maybe it's more like the CRAZY fan of Beetles or Michael Jackson!? cannot accept even a bit of difference from their ideal style??)

Hi Tut, Kosugi-san's page...? Sorry, I haven't seen that site. Your source is really great, isn't it? I searched a lot but found nothing so far. ummm. I'm actually afraid...even if I found, I could hardly imagine that he/she would give the videos away to contribute to the site he/she doesn't know. It is great if someone on the Kosugi-san's site will start to record the other FujiTV One's rebroadcasts.

Tetsu, you were really eager to watch the vegetable battle. (^^) Yamada-san's final dish is unbelievable, it's shaved ice with cabbage source and Kintoki(Azuki)-beans paste (=anko: Japanese traditional sweets)!! Cabbage dessert!! We are familiar to the combination of green tea source + anko as dessert but he used cabbage. I didn't watch well about Wakiya-san's meuille-feuille like dish you said but it may be cabbage cutlet or crape, I guess? The pictures here: www.fujitv.co.jp/ironchef/records/130215.htmland I just found below English page today which looks like uploarding more pictures & videos than Japanese page: www.facebook.com/IronChefJapanI reached above English page for the first time today. Though they haven't today's battle's pictures yet but perhaps they will do soon, I guess? I realy feel the culinary techniques have jumped up so high compared to 19 years ago... personally feel that the simple dish looks more delicious. Your idea about Yamada-san as the fourth tetsujin sounds exciting! Some Japanese fans were talking the same thing. Though some others are not. (looks like they don't like a person who had a problem with his private life... There are a lot of "pro & con" about it) Also I do appreciate your comment about the preannouncement of the theme. I didn't notice that concept. Because I am not a picky eater at all. (^^ Now I understand what you say. But, at the same time, I understand about enjoying pre-battle analysis as Sanji did at Japanese Iron Chef facebook today. Before, during the original IC aired, I didn't know how to search future's TV program's contents by internet and I used to buy TV program guide magazine every week because I wanted to check the next Ryori-no-Tetsujin's themes & challengers! lol

There are many. But yeah, I like the music when Kobe's Yomigaeru scene, too, Okonomiyagi. hmmmm, cool. My favorite one is the Chairman's fanfare. The theme to the Nobunagafs Ambition series. (ref. to iron chef collection's beyond kitchen stadium "The Music of Iron Chef Japan, Part IV") ironcheffans.info/wordpress/?cat=5Trembling with excitement when I hear that. Kaga-saaaaaaaan!!! Another favorite is... I was especially impressed by the BGM when Kaga appeared from the door of the Beijing castle in the first opening ceremony in Beijing Special. What an EPIC melody! Sounds like played by Chinese unique musical instrument? I want to know what this music is but I still don't know. Wonder if it's from the movie "Last Emperor" or something?

As for lack of character of iron chefs and Tamaki, there were some complaining comments in Japanese message boards, too. But it's getting better little by little. (recently camera often catches Tamaki's face during tasting) I like Suga's "trademark" champagne toasting, too. Each character began to take root in. I hope they don't cancel the show so soon. Maybe we expected too much because original ICJ's golden age's impact is too strong. My husband and I were talking about the situation a few days ago, and we agreed it would be foolish for Fuji to cancel the show quickly. It takes time for any show to develop the characters and format. After a few seasons, go back and watch the first few episodes of any of your favorite shows and see how much it has changed for the better in many ways. As Miwa said, when you compare to the heyday of the original ICJ, of course the new show is going to be lacking...but the early episodes of the original (many of which never aired in the US) were not as polished as the later ones. I introduced HC's comment to Japanese fans at Iron Chef facebook as a comment from an int'l fan the other day because I saw some fans's critical comments such as "I hate this new format" or "I hate they unveil the ingredient or nominee in advance" or "Come back original casts", etc. And there were so many reactions by other positive fan's clicking " good". HC's opinion sounded fresh for them. because they saw the remake version of ICJ in their own country for the first time. Thank you so much, HC! In this way, I sometimes introduce everyone's comments from this board, comments by HC, MA, Tut, Tetsu, Okonomiyagi, Sanji.... sometimes quote by copy& paste in English and other times by translating in my own words and those get alwayas plural reactions " good". Thanks everyone! (Don't worry, I've never said you are watching the show ) So...about the rumor of cancellation, it is still just rumor. No updated. Only tabloid said. No official comment by Fuji. There is a kind of Fuji's official twitter named "Ima-tsubu"(ƒCƒ}‚‚Ô) (Japanese only) imatsubu.jp/campaign/ironchefand fans tweet there everyday. IC staffs and Yamamoto producer tweet there, too. I found the other day, someone tweeted "No cancel, please. Please keep it long on the air!" and the staffs reacted about it for the first time. They only quoted her comment and no comment theirselves. I didn't know what they meant... why no deny? I really hate when I type a searching keyword "ƒAƒCƒAƒ“ƒVƒFƒt"(Iron chef) in Yahoo Japan homepage, automatically the next word "‘Å‚¿Ø‚è"(cancellation) is popping up still now. It looks like such a number of people are intereseted in or trusting?

One other interesting note from this battle: the chefs weren't present at the tasting. I noticed there was an "A" and "B" on each panelist's table. Was it a blind taste test? Did they know whose food they were tasting? Fukui-san said, "please taste Tetsujin Ishinabe's dishes first." and after that he said, "Next, please taste challenger's dishes" So, Fukui-san introduced who's dishes those were before tasting. It's interesting. They served IronChef's dishes first. And chef didn't make any presentation or explanation for their dishes! Fukui-san will retire from Fuji TV as of end of this year!!
