Iron Chef has been ported to Thailand! I was searching YouTube on a whim and stumbled upon an episode of the Thai version. It's visually derivative from the original Japanese version, which was a nice touch. Here's the clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX2TVUSU-nk&feature=related

I just found a compilation of Nissan Laurel commercials, some of which I don't recall ever seeing before (most notably, the first and last ones):
Interesting how the last one is a kind of tribute to Michiba, I suppose shortly after he retired.

Just finished today: Battle Bonito for your reading pleasure. I'm finding that, except for Ishinabe vs. Borie, I'm agreeing with the verdicts handed down as I examine these battles more closely. Anyone else feel the same way?

Oh man, I have dreamed of trying to do my own large scale Iron Chef battle at a con, but from all my yearly con travels and experience for almost 10 years now, I fear the logistics of trying to organize such a thing would be rather difficult for a few reasons: - Organizing enough people for the roles of a Chairman, Chefs, challenger, assistants, commentators, judges - Having a large enough space for the audience and set up - Finding a venue that would allow for cooking equipment set up of any kind. XD Not to mention all the ingredients you might need! But back to the topic at hand, congratulations on your panel's success! Can't wait to see the video.

Would anyone be interested in doing a fandub of Kobe's debut, now that we have the subtitled version to guide us? I guess it's a matter of who does whose voice...granted, it's a huge undertaking, but we'll see...

Battle Duck: Slupnicki vs. Grossi is on YouTube in three parts. This was the second episode, and Iron Chef Guy Grossi's first.
On the bright side...it's more watchable than Iron Chef UK! The commentary is so-so, though it's a little slow for my tastes.
Part 1:

Was there ever any interest in doing a fandub for some of the untranslated episodes? I would totally do one if there is...

That has to be the best poster for anything I've ever seen. Ever.
I laughed at "Bring your own bell peppers."

You can tell they still have respect for the original production and that they still remain great friends.
Interesting that Sakai mentioned Ishinabe, and how they said they'd do it again if they were asked...I wonder if they would be challengers on the American version? (I know Sakai already was, but still...)
